In the USA, the opening weekend grossed $207,438,708, setting a record. Worldwide,  The Avengers has grossed $1,481,585,111. 

This movie has become a fan favourite and the anticipation for the Blu-ray DVD release is high. To accommodate the excitement, there are four versions  to be released on September 25 and a special ten disc version to be released after, (date TBA). 1) 1 disc DVD
2) 2 disc; 1 Blu-ray, 1 DVD (red cover)
3) 2 disc;  Blu-ray, 1 DVD (blue cover), same as picture above)
4) 4 disc; 1 Blu-ray 3D, 1 Blu-ray, 1 DVD and 1 Digital Copy Disc
5) Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase One – Avengers Assembled (10-Disc Limited Edition Six-Movie Collector’s Set)

The Variations Of Each Version:

1) 1 disc DVD;  Audio Commentary by Director Joss Whedon and with one featurette  “Assembling the Ultimate Team”

2) 2 disc; 1 Blu-ray, 1 DVD (red cover):  Audio Commentary by Director Joss Whedon and with two featurettes  “Assembling the Ultimate Team” & “A Visual Journey, deleted scenes, gag reel, and Soundgarden music video – “Live to Rise”.

3) 2 disc;  Blu-ray, 1 DVD (blue cover, same as picture above): Audio Commentary by Director Joss Whedon and with two featurettes  “Assembling the Ultimate Team” & “A Visual Journey, deleted scenes, gag reel, and Soundgarden music video – “Live to Rise”.

4) 4 disc; 1 Blu-ray 3D, 1 Blu-ray, 1 DVD and 1 Digital Copy Disc: 3D Blu-ray DVD and 1 digital copy disc, Audio Commentary by Director Joss Whedon and with two featurettes  “Assembling the Ultimate Team” & “A Visual Journey, deleted scenes, gag reel, and Soundgarden music video – “Live to Rise”.

5) Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase One – Avengers Assembled (10-Disc Limited Edition Six-Movie Collector’s Set): This is still unknown but we can anticipate the extra features they will include in this ten disc package.

The Avengers will have a sequel, also directed by Joss Whedon and set for release on May 1, 2015.
