Home Theater Gift Ideas

December 5th, 2012

We are twenty days away from Christmas. The malls and stores are full of shoppers so now is a great time to offer some home theater gift ideas to help all you shoppers out there. For home theater enthusiasts, you have so much to choose from; seating, surround sound speakers, sound bar speakers, TV’s and projectors, Blu-ray players, Blu-ray movies, gaming systems, etc. etc. With so much to choose from, let’s showcase some of the best home theater gift ideas!

1) Furniture (of course that’s #1): There are plenty to choose from. You can buy already made seating or you can take the custom route. Our chairs are made for you, we do not mass produce. You place an order and we make it to your specifications. Custom ergonomic support, fine quality Valentino leather, cine-suede, or silk leather fabric, and you can also choose your own foam density. Our chairs make an ideal christmas gift this holiday season. Customize a chair design here (just click)!

2) Smart TV’s: This past July, we wrote about Smart TV’s (click here to read about it). The Samsung Smart TV’s are simply amazing. The 8000 series comes as a 64″ screen with and all the features we mentioned back in July. The Samsung Smart TV’s is a great choice this season.

3) Epson Powerlite Home Cinema Projector:  In September, we wrote about the oustanding Epson Powerlite Home Cinema 710 HD Projector. The cost is lower compared to higher end projectors but the quality is superb. Read the details here.

4) Sound Bar Speakers: Just last week we wrote about Sound Bar Speakers and there’s great reason to. You don’t need a surround sound system with Sound Bar Speakers which will cut down costs substantially. Read up about this new trend in home theater equipment!

With so much to choose from and from so many retailers offering special promotions and discounts, holiday shopping can be tiring and frustrating so we hope a few of our ideas may help you this season.

Front Projections

October 29th, 2012

With TV screens becoming increasingly bigger each year, the importance of a front projector is still valid for home entertainment and home theater systems. Previously, we have discussed home theater projectors, the ViewSonic Hybrid-Projector and the Epson PowerLite Home Cinema. We had some enquiries from people on Twitter asking us if we still find projectors valid since the market has these huge hi-def TV’s. Each answer was the same, yes we do.

Projectors price points vary. $2000 and up to $25,000. It depends on the style of projector you want so we do not have a definitive answer as to how much one should spend. That is up to you and the quality you are looking for. Buy the projector that best suits your screen size and budget. There are well made budget priced projectors so if your budget isn’t too high, no need to worry. You can still purchase a decent projector and do not have to spend $25,000.  The clip below is from CEDIA 2012.

Below is a review of the Acer H6500 DLP Projector.

Tekzilla did a quick look at  Optoma’s Wifi enabled LED Projectors as seen in the clip below

The Projector Blog is a great resource for the latest and greatest in home theater projectors. We enjoy reading their views and insight and recommend you to also read what they have to say. Hi-Def TV’s are great but the experience of a projector creates a greater theater experience in your home. Ultimately what ever suits you best is your ultimate choice. We also love the new styles and technology in TV’s nowadays so we are fans of both. Projectors have improved a lot over the years and we suggest looking into one for your home theater.

Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 710HD

September 24th, 2012

The retail price for the Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 710HD will cost $649.00. According to PC Mag, the Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 710HD was released in April 2012 and is made best for dark lighted home theaters but can be viewed in lighter conditions as well.

“If you won’t be satisfied with anything less than 1080p resolution, this is obviously the wrong projector to get. If 720p resolution will do, the Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 710HD’s balance of price, brightness, image quality, connectivity, and built-in sound system, will be hard to beat for watching a large image in a fairly bright room.” (PCMag.com 2012)

The New Sony 3D VPL-VW1000ES Projector

July 9th, 2012

Sony has introduced their newest projector, the VPL-VW1000ES.  The 4K resolution, 3D home theater projector retails for a hefty $24,999.

The 4K resolution means that the projector is more than four times the resolution of the current highest quality projector which is 1980 x 1080 pixels. The VPL-VW1000ES is 4096 x 2160, vastly superior than any projector currently on the market. The VPL-VW1000ES has excellent 3D and has support of the DCI color space, which is the standard used in the movie theaters. These two features create an impressive image.

Weighing in at 44 lbs, this projector can be mounted on the ceiling like standard projectors. There are also small screw-on feet to level the projector on the ground.  The set-up menus are very easy to use, even though there are plenty of setting to get used to, the system is very user friendly.  Considering how many picture options are available, it may be time consuming at first. Sony  states the viewer can sit closer to the screen as there is no “screen door effect”.  Last but not least, the projector has a whisper quiet fan so you will not be distracted by a loud fan while you use this projector.

ProjectorReviews.com reviews approximately 25 home theater projectors per year and in 2012, Sony was awarded  the Outstanding Product of the Year Award.  This may take a few years to catch on as it seems Sony has gone above and beyond that of their competition.  Blu-Ray players cannot support such high resolution so trying to watch anything of such high quality isn’t available just yet. Other forms of technology that coincide with this projector will be able to accommodate such high resolution in the near future.  The competition will have to catch up.

Engadget.com has pictures of the VPL-VW1000ES, to view please click here.
